January 2013

First week of school and we already had an audition for the Operas: Mozart's Schauspieldirektor and Rossini's Il Signor Bruschino.  2 of my students were chosen!  We finished the recording of the Joseph Weigl (1766-1846) cd on Sunday and it is in the bag! Exciting that this music is for the Esterházy Festival.

Today is a very cold day - 10 at least wth a light snow, so I will not go out too much.

Drove 8 hours to Long Island for auditions tomorrrow.  Great group in the van, it made the drive much shorter.  I look forward to hearing the students tomorrow.

A nice day being with Jaz and Kayla...and then teaching a lesson.  Nice hearing a great Heldentenor: Taynard Blampied.   Continued to work on the Margaret Lang music.  I heard a tenor who had a great sucess at the Ring but I do not understand this voice.  He sounds like a boy soprano: light, vibratoless, no steel in the voice, not real support or middle voice and then he had a great success.  Is it the coming wave of tenors?
